Sterling Man Enjoys Moment Of Film Fame
Andy Warhol once said everyone would be famous for at least 15 minutes.
For Gene Sovo of Sterling, his 15 minutes of fame will come Monday night.
Sovo, a heavy equipment operator for Comanche County District No.
1, will make his network television debut Monday night in "Lonesome Dove," a four-part mini-series based on Larry McMurtry's Pulitizer Prize-winning novel. The series begins tonight on CBS.
Sovo is cast as Ermoke, a sidekick of Blue Duck, who heads a band of renegade Kiowa warriors against former Texas Ranger Augustus McCrae, played by Robert Duvall.
"We (Kiowas) come into it Monday night sometime and he (Duvall) will probably kill us out Tuesday night," Sovo said.
"And, doggone it, my daughter has got a ballgame Monday night. I will have to turn the VCR on and go watch the ballgame."
