Ted Ligety (born August 31, , Salt Lake City, Utah, US) is an American Alpine skier who was the first American man to win two Olympic gold medals in Alpine.
He was named to the US Ski Developmental team in , winning a silver medal that year in the slalom in the Junior World Cup, and moved up to the US Ski team in His Olympic gold medal in the combined was a big surprise, but in March , he won his first World Cup race, a giant slalom in Korea.
In , Ligety won two World Cup giant slaloms and was the giant slalom World Cup champion for the year. He also won a World Cup giant slalom in February , his fourth World Cup race victory, so far all coming in the giant slalom. At the World Championships, he earned a bronze medal in the GS.
Through , Ligety has six US championships, and serves as the Director of Skiing at the Mt. Holly Club in southwest Utah.
