          Harlan H.

          Barrows (April 15, 1877 – May 15, 1960) was an American geographer.

          He was particularly critical of his chairman, Harlan Barrows who undertook no fieldwork.

          He served as chair of the geography department at the University of Chicago from 1919 until 1942, then was named emeritus professor. He was elected president of the Association of American Geographers in 1922. Barrows played a significant role in the development of historical geography and environmental conservation.[1]
